At IES Länna, the practice of being kind is made a priority. While studying art of embroidery, Year 6 students researched and chose a quote revolving around the theme of kindness and helping spread its ideology throughout the school. Each student chose a quote that resonated with them and depict a positive message for our school. Students were exposed to new materials including an embroidery hoop, embroidery thread, and a loose knit canvas. Students learned and mastered many embroidery stitches including the backstitch, running stitch and satin stitch to complete their designs.
During the spring term 6D has studied Hinduism and Buddhism in their Religion Class. When time came for assessment they choose themselves how they wanted to be assessed (student democracy in action) and around half of them choose to do a webpage.
8C have produced some great film posters on the book they have finished studying in English. Their task was to create a realistic film poster for an imaginary film of the novel (as there is no existing film for this book). They rose to the task, creating some excellent posters which would not look out of place in the corridors of Filmstaden!
"As a native English speaker, the opportunity to be able to teach something I am passionate about in my own language is wonderful."
